Allison drinks blue devil liquor, a foul-tasting beverage.
Devil Liquor is a series of alcoholic beverages served in the Wheel, distilled from Devils.
Varieties
Blue Devil
One variety of liquor comes from blue devils.[1] When drunk, it has a number of strange, but useful side effects including: causing the user to sprout horns,[2] generating a blue devil in the user's body,[3] and allowing the user to speak and understand Universal Metaconstant. Allison seems to dislike the taste.[4][3]
According to 82 White Chain, the devil which grows inside the user needs to be consumed shortly after the liquor is drunk, to retain the effect.[3] After roughly three days, the user will expel the devil through the mouth, losing the ability to understand tongues unless the devil is then eaten.[5]
Pale Devil[]
Pale devil liquor causes extremely fast healing but also has a high chance of rapid mutagenic effects, such as growing extra arms or even heads (which often shrivel and fall off hours later).[6]
Red Devil[]
Red devil liquor causes very fast intoxication and makes the drinker incredibly strong. It can cause hair growth and the occasional tail.[7]
Green Devil[]
Green devil liquor is a very potent hallucinogen which can cause the user to grow scales or shed their skin.[7]
Gold Devil[]
Gold devil liquor is incredibly rare but said to be one of the most powerful stimulants in the multiverse, bringing on a manic state of incredible energy, productivity, and violence. Dosing yourself with gold devil liquor is said to cause one to grow a tail and prolonged exposure destroys the brains of soft-tissued creatures.[6]
Ebon Devil[]
Ebon Devil liquor exists mostly in legend, drinking it is said to instantly cause apotheosis into a Devil.[6]
Notes
- It would appear deities are not immune to the effects of alcoholic drinks, since Hansa is said to have been killed by Akaroth in a drunken rage.[8]
- Drinking devil liquor of any kind usually causes eventual degeneration of a person’s soul flame into the Hot Black Flame, which is parasitic and consumptive. A ‘Devil’s kiss’ is a mark of this infestation. This usually means the afflicted person eventually collapses into innumerable tiny devils. Occasionally they transform into a whole devil, and with a slimmer chance than even that, keep some of their personality. The process is slow enough that this doesn’t typically happen until the person’s time of death.[6]

“The necessity of communication across vast swathes of multidimensional space has gouged a deep and persistent need for the consumption of devil flesh. As useful as it is, the whole hideous process is prohibitively messy. Why, myself once spent a week passing a small blue devil and afterwards was only able to speak Goblin for my time spent straining and sweating in my bunk. It is far wiser to do away with the whole process and hire a Tellan or guilder, and save yourself the potential disfigurement.”
